A selfmade para wannabe. Someone used a normal army/luftwaffen helmet and built up this thing.

Looks to be a reproduction helmet IMHO. Typical characteristics found on genuine examples are not consistent with this one... at least based on my experience and these photos.

I'm curious about what the lotnr and maker mark looks like. Many reproduction para helmets seem to have certain stamping characteristics also.

Post a pic for my curiousity.

      Thanks,

I think I saw this helmet at the Atlanta GA Military Show last year.

        Best,

Is this being offered to you for sale? This is a good example, if it is really a fake, of why I don't buy anything unless I see the vet drag it out of his attic covered in dust and bird droppings The fakers are getting good to the untrained eye and that is why this forum is such a great educational tool.

Actually this one is very easy to spot as a fake. First picture is enough. The shells from eastern Europe are much tougher to spot.

I would say that regular scratching on the penultimate picture gives away the painting, how many times do you see that on a genuine helmet. It is where somone has used rough sandpaper or a file and draged it down to much! Also the very light 'green' looks too new although if somone can post an original with this paint I'll stand corected!

              Cheers Mike
