My opinion is if it comes from Italy...forget it.

I don't like private auctions. Like the seller has something to hide. No one can alert bidders that it's a possible fake. I'd stay away from this one.

Darryl, I think you are being a bit rough on the Italians in general. There are still many fine items in Italy and if you can develop some good contacts, you can come up with some treasures that are very hard to come by in the US.

But, as to the seller of this helmet, he has offered many bad helmets on ebay. All in private auctions. So, because of the seller, not location, I would say that this is a helmet to avoid.

          Jack,
You're probably right, I am hard on them...and the Czechs, Latvians and others. I know that there are many many fake helmets coming from those locations so I am naturally suspect whenever something "rare" from there pops up.

I'll try and keep my opinions in check in the future...didn't mean to offend anyone.

            You didn't offend me Darryl...

...I think you're absolutely correct! EVERYTHING I see coming
out of those countries you mentioned is EXTREMELY suspect, lately.

I'm very proud of my Italian blood (a genuine Godfather story),
but I'm half Finn and one-quarter Brit - a real mutt!

              Hi Brian,
Thanks for your reply...appreciate it. However, Jack is right and I'll be a little more sensitive next time.

              Ciao,

                no proble to me...

Hallo, I am Italian, from Roma...........there is no problem about your opinions: I wasn't offended!!
You judged italian fakers not the country!!!!
                Cheers
                P.S.
However it's true: there are many fakers in Italy, even out of the militaria market.... but not all the Italians are fakers

                  Gents,
I think this same seller has a tan chicken wire FJ helmet for sale on ebay. Check the FJ forum. This tells you all you need to know.

If this is fake it's sure is well done. Think many people will fall into this one, don't you think?

For the unitiated, what tells you this helmet is bogus besides suspicions about the dealer? I don't mean to sound sarcastic, I honestly don't know what to look for.

                            helmet

I'm with everybody about bad stuff from Italy, but, everything looks good to me about this helmet, however, without having It in hand and paranoia about bad stuff from Italy, I wouldn't bid on It.

The FJ camo the same guy is selling has the same color of camo, the same wire and the same extensive rust. Enough said.......
