    Decal placement

This helmet sold on the estand. Trying to learn about decal placement. This seems a bit low to me. Was this common or unique. One of many variations? Thoughts?

Sometimes the placement had to do with how much the guy had to drink the night before. Also, different shell sizes make them look like they are in different places.

Well, for the placement, a view of the whole helmet would have been fine to judge...
Is the rubber band original to the helmet ?

By the way, did you get my email, Andy ?

Andy, if that rubber band is original, please post a pic of the whole helmet. About placement of the decal, I remember seing one of an SS soldier with the decal on the front of the helmet. Any one els seen that?

                    Thanks for the link Perry.
Andy, as far as I know, rubber gets damaged by light, so it would be good to keep this helmet in a dark place. I learnt that lesson when I exposed a gas mask for a few years. I did more damage to it than had been done since the day it was made.

Interesting thread on rubber bands ; interesting Polizei helmet too, with - once again - a brown chinstrap...

                        Chris,
Just for the record, I don't believe this has a brown chinstrap. The strap has been arranged on the visor so that the inside is showing...this creates less stress on the leather. I can't see the outside of the strap but I assume it is black.

Darryl is right, it is just a normal chin strap with the brown side showing. The other side is black.

Right. My theory is killed in the the egg...
