    Medic helmet for JAN??

    Hi
Maybe this is what Jan B. is looking for. M16 single decal + red cross on top.
    Have a look

Well, at least he was safe from airplanes.

First of all thanks for the link, Nick...

Now, like Jack says, at least he's save for airplanes. I never saw a red cross painted like that ( normally it should run all over the helmet or seperate small crosses around the shell, no?). I'm afraid this is not one I 'm looking. I can't judge over the painted cross, but I don't like the look of it either ( the brownish light colored rust on the white).
When it comes to stories, well I must say I'm very sceptical. I personally know people who paints red crosses on ordinary shells, gasmaskcanisters, and very used rugsacks to get prices up....and they do this very good, and with a little aging it is almost undetectable.

Apart from the poor condition, I would propably also pick it up on a fleamarket if it was cheaply priced, but as a centerpiece in mine 'collection' ( which it have to become ) it is not worth it.

Maybe John can give his opinion on it

      Thanks again!

      Cheers

      Jan

            Medic Photo

            Hi Jean
Heres a picture of a medic freshly captured in the Ardennes , Note the first aid pouches made from American binocular cases.

Waw! Sean, that's a heck of a picture. I'm very aware that pictures of these painted sani-helmets are quiet rare. On the eastern front and even on the western front, painted helmets were rather an exception (due to the target you've became). Mostly they wore just an armband, or as shown in your picture the Rotes-Kreuz Hemd ( identification vest). Aparently this fellow has both, neat ! I first thought that it was just a piece of white tissue with a cross painted on.
Is this a picture from your own collection? Or did you found it on the net/in a book?

              cheers

Thanks, thats a very nice picture. But it is hard to tell wether the helmet is painted, or has a cover...
