                Hi Merdock,

nice troppenhelm, i myself have found these to be slowly increasing in value over the last ten years or so.

And with the variations available am surprised that they are not so popular, i have about six at the present and one more on the way.

                Makes a change from steelies

I love them too ; I had two, one quite "green" (sold now) and one brown. I saw a lot of them in the past, not even one with the owner's name ! So this one is quite interesting...

Here is my "ex" (I presume it's the same as yours) :

The owner name looks like it is written in the same color and place as the date stamp. Are you sure it is the owner name, and not a maker mark, sort of like in officers caps?

And here's the one remaining ; both were dated 1942, and I never saw one made another year (I mean felt models)... Someone did ?
By the way, your eagle seems a bit yellow ; a toned Heer or would't it be a KM one ?

No, JL, it's the owner's name, no doubt about this.

                          Hi Edelweiss,

The K.M helmet shields are quite distinctive for they do not have the raised border surrounding the shield and are flat, this includes the eagle and the tri-colour shield.

Remember that K.M. eagles came in gold and silver !!

                          Ashley

thanks for the info, the eagle does appear to be golden but iassume it's just toned silver,
as the the name it's written in hand writing and darker ink the date is stamped.

                              Hi

Yeah I like them too. I'm looking for one like that. Are there any maker marks on the chin straps?
