The position of the seam on the leather wouldn't concern me a bit. If people think that a leather would last in combat conditions from 1939-45 I think they are deluding themselves. Why wouldn't a soldier replace the leather ? The position of the seam would be of no concern to him.

I agree with Stephen on this one,if it was already been replaced it was done wartime.I have to admit that I never saw an untouched one with the seam of the liner like that, but this one would not make my run away. If so, apart from the seam, there are IMO no other give-aways that would reveal a replacement. Just my opinion.

This is a really nice combat veteran. Thanks for sharing it with us, Nick! Please post the history of the former owner ( I can feel in my bones that you've found it ).

Correct, campA and campB situation here again..
I've had 100% honest helmets where the seam was not located in the rear. It's not encountered often but was done.
I agree, because the seam is not in the rear is not a sure indicator that the liner has been replaced...

Well I will post the history but there is a little problem. I found 4 Scholl obergefreiters. Who will it be?

Thanks for the comments. I to have no problem with the seam. IMO a wartime replaced liner.

The helmet was found in a farm in normandy in a place called Orbec , the seller never touched the helmet.
