I am by no means an expert but I didn't think the army had black helmets like that, only the SS

I will probably be wrong however, lets see what the experts say....

Czech helmets are black inside to,and never repainted on original Feldgrau,so for sure not Czech one.

I ve seen them and owned them like that ..some were period painted for flak I believe and no doubt an occasional post war helmet painted like the big bad nazi (ss) helmets from the movies...JMHO Billbert

I cannot tell good from bad on decals, does this one look like a good decal? I have never seen black painted Heer helmets but there is quite a lot that I haven't seen. Who ever painted this one seems to have done it quite some time ago since it doesn't look to be artifical aged. Maybe some kid did this in the 50s or 60s and the age wear is from playing army.

Could you please post a close-up of the decal without the flash on your camera. That light spot is obstructing my view. From what I can see, the edges of the decal seem to be very clear-cut which is usually a good indication the decal was applied AFTER the paint.

I had an army painted black similiar to this one.

I once heard... they worn by panzer troops... or... is that BS??

these photos are all i got from the seller. It was listed for $425.00, with a buy it now option. I hesitated because i've never seen one like this. The helmet did sell within a few hours though.
