          Hi Ken,

Also yours are incredible.I love to see all of them.
The Splinter Pattern is more common than the "Tan and Water" Pattern?

          cheers

You can find what you want in mint condition in german militaria.
                  Take your time.

                    mint covers

In my experience, I've seen many more mint/near mint covers than well used examples.

I'm not criticizing the covers already posted here. I think those guys probably know more about them than I do, but I find it funny that they usually seem to be in such nice shape. Where are all the beat rags? Or even moderately dirty examples?

I always thought the splinter cover was so much more rare than the SS covers, but at least you see some torn and faded examples of those.

Maybe covers showing hard use didn't make attractive war souvinirs, but it makes me skeptical, even of covers that are supposedly "right".

Um, wasn't the thread topic was about mint covers? I'm sure numerous examples of worn covers could also be posted....

Here is one unissued, this one resided in a private collection for over 35 years,M40 SD helmet it came with was unissued as well and were found together.

They don't have to be worn and beat up to be real (but some of the fakes I have seen were well worn)

                            Sure

Nice covers guys by the way. I've also noticed that the prices of these Splinter patterns hasn't moved too much pricewise compared to the "SS Camo" types over the last few years.

$6000+/- for an SS while its Splinter counterpart is only $2500+/- in good condition comparatively speaking. SS continues to climb as the Splinter market has been stale.

Anyone else notice that as well?

Yes indeed, but I think it would be very difficult to find a real SS cover in the $6k range. Supply and demand I suppose.
