Good Lord, can you make the photos a bit smaller... Might have had some artwork added to it.

I must have been seeing the red reflection in the paint of the red armband in the photo, has it been lacquered?Something looks high gloss on parts of the paint.

The whole thing is rather glossy...under the dust.

That was my initial thought as well.....Looks lacquered, as the outside is far more glossy than the inside.......Bodes

I have had helmets before that vets lacquered to keep them from rusting.
Even with the laquer it is a nice double decal.

Much better with the smaller photos. Looks to have seen lacquered or waxed to protect the paint, post war done of course probably by the Veteran.

                Still a nice helmet though.

I'm not so sure that it was necessarily laquered post-war. Entirely possible of course but I've seen quite a few LW DDs that have had shiny coatings applied. I've always wondered why. Parade duty or....? Odd that so many LW turn up this way. Maybe someone else has noticed this phenomenon as well.

                    Hello
I agree , there is the famous book about helmet showing a group of soldier pre1940 , applying varnish on a whole group of helmets .
Most likely not the case for this one however.
                    Regards
