      Glenn,
I think airing your laundry is perfectly acceptable when done calmly and in gentlemanly fashion, as you have done here.
In terms of actual numbers of collectors vs.population we are quite small and it is only proper to help one another out when something like this happens. What hurts one of us hurts the community as a whole, I believe.

No it was not insured but sent registered mail (tracking etc) I have never had a problem with this service.

He could not refund my money as he bought the SS helmet with the funds received from me for the hat so instead he sent me another item (which I don't really want) but I felt I had no choice.

I should have the item on Monday and we will see. Maybe it is that darn SS helmet that started all this.

I will state however that Mr Steele is still in contact with me and did not vanish into thin air,and I hope we can get all this sorted out.

You sure as heck did not sell it to Glenn, as he received an empty box, as evidenced in the previous posts. Who else did you sell it to?

When you opened the box, did a quarter pound moth fly out, burp, and crap a couple pebbled buttons and bevo insignia? That could explain the problem.

well i doubt we will receive any answers from david steel, i think the scam is out and Mr Steel is gone.

I wish i m wrong and that everything turn out well for Glenn, i m tired of all those guys who are just here get money and not even delivering anything, how can that be explained an empty box with the wrong adress???
                      For what purpose????????

i dont mind trading here on this site, but it has to be a faire game, we are here to save painful experiences and money and to learn something and of course meet other nice collectors, because there are enough sharks out there on the web.

                      Cheers

settle for something less than what you want

                        Glenn, I feel for you.

This is a bad situation any way you look at it. Unfortunately, if this character "bought" a fake SS helmet with your money, money paid for a hat he never sent to you, he IS responsible for getting you YOUR money back.

Being forced to accept something that you wouldn't have bought anyway is just wrong.

I would say that it is apparent that Mr. Steele is not what he appears to be and I do suspect that these threads are designed to troll the collector community in hopes of catching a "big fish". As for the other direction of the thread, I am quite in agreement with Stahlhelm's comments. We do need to have this discussion but perhaps in another thread.

Forums are fantastic resources if you use them well. You get to know your items and the people , the nice people but also the bad people.

Lets just say that the bad people want to infuse the wrong kind of information so that even more fakes get through the mazes.

I think we have such a case going on here. I hope the moderaters deal quickly with this and not let it slide by like with the previous fake DD SS case.
