Here is a SS single decal M40 helmet. It is from a Colorado vet and was in his closet along with a Luft peaked cap. The man selling them is an estate planner and was able to buy them while looking at some items before the auction.
The helmet is untouched and has never been in
collectors hands until I got it. He put them on Ebay and pulled the helmet after 8 hours. I and 2 others bid on it, and I got lucky!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The chinstrap and liner are still pliable. The strap is stamped SS within a circle. Might be rare????????? The liner band is a zinc coated metal and the strap buckle is aluminum I think, but is a little dirty.
The liner band is stamped 1938 and 64 z. 57 etc.. and has a German name that starts with schu I think, have to look closer.
The shell is stamped Q64 and DN 369 I think it is 9.
