Suspicion is just a nice way to say that the decal is fake. What type of wear would cause only the decal area to deteriorate in this way? Even if you try to scrape authentic decals (to de-nazify or to comply with WWII regulations) it doesn't look like that. If you look at the base of the decal, there appears to be a special emphasis on wear there.

You wanted opinions? You got them. You don't like them? Too bad. Enjoy your helmet.

        Thanks

        Walter,

Thank you so much for your comments, yes you are so correct I did indeed ask for comments and opinions and that is exactly what I have recieved, but we seem to have crossed wires here.

I appreciate constructive comments, for example, if there is a problem or if YOU belive the decal is a fake please try and help me out, isn't this what the Forum is supposed to be about, like minded collectors learning from each others experience/mistakes etc..etc..?

Yet all I seem to have got from you are sarcastic clever comments like the ones below, and I don't really understand why. I didn't say that I didn't like anyone's comments, I just didn't understand what they were getting at. Being born, bred and educated in England I have a fairly good grasp on the English language.

Anyway, thanks again for your kind words and your help, I believe(d??) that the helmet is/was a good one and I paid a lot for it, obviously if you think the decal is a fake then I am a little disspaointed to say the least but there's no need for the "Too bad, go enjoy the helmet" or maybe that's just an accpetable way to talk to people where you're from?

You wanted opinions? You got them. You don't like them? Too bad. Enjoy your helmet.

          SS helmet

I know what its like to buy a dud unfortunately the amount of money you spend doesnt make something real just expensive. I am not a decal man but I can notice the extra wear on the decal as opposed to the rest of the helmet. Logic would dictate someone did this so the decal could not be exposed as fake or not as easy at least if that makes sense.
          whatever, Robert
