This is the lovely top-shelf KM helmet. If only I had the money... I love the extremely rare "black anti-flare paint", this is the first I have ever seen with this anti-flare technology (sea camo?). The seller doesn't mention it, but notice the special chinstrap with the anti-flare buckle.

Here is the inside of the KM helmet. Just look at this condition! The seller writes, "The liner is of the softer, slightly padded type used for naval gunners. Waffen stamped, with padded tongues and no metal band." Those naval gunners were lucky to get this soft comfortable liner, it was so comfortable it was copied by the Czechs after the war- but I am sure this one is the real deal, it has the ultra-desirable "Waffen" stamp. This is a steal at £285.00, I can't find a cheaper KM helmet anywhere!

Here is another rare gem. Description: "An M40 pattern rolled rim helmet, with no decals. Original waffen-stamped liner. Original green paint inside but outside has been painted olive green, possible in service. No chinstrap but bales present. This helmet has no rivets, and the liner is attached via an internal crown pad. This pattern was used by border guards."

He even admits this rare border guard helmet has been repainted, nice to see an honest dealer for a change. Here is the special border guard liner. I wish he would show the Waffen stamp. This one really speaks to me... but whay does it say "RUN AWAY"?

As a member of this Forum, and as the proprietor of Strachan Militaria, I think it's fair enough for me to exercise my right of reply.
The first thing I'd point out is that in the terms and conditions of membership for this forum it asks that posts be "respectful". Sadly some of these comments are far from that. The post from Asper is particularly rude and offensive and the moderators must decide if he is the sort of juvenile of limited intelligence that they should allow to discredit the forum.
Secondly, I am not a dealer. I have been a collector for 35 years but have a large collection and a small house, so the time has come to dispose of some of my collection - hence the website. Unlike most dealers, I am not looking to make a profit out of this exercise - simply to get a fair price to buy new items. In terms of the specific posts, they are a mixture - apart from the rude ones -of useful information, incorrect assumptions and an arrogant and incorrect belief that everyone who buys a helmet is a purist. Many people -particularly re-enactors - are looking for something that looks right and comes at a reasonable price.
The border guard helmet is a case in point, - looks OK and doesn't cost much -and yes, Scorched Earth, I know the liner is in back to front. A child of three could see that from the picture, which is why I didn't think it necessary to say it. Unfortunately it ihas been that way for a very long time as the bolt is corroded and to force it would risk damage. I have now added an extra sentence in case anyone particularly dumb looks at the picture.

I have had the km helmet for nearly 20 years. It's good on the outside (Chris Pittman has never heard of anti-flare paint - amazing for such an expert. Maybe he doesn't know quite as much as he thinks he does) but the liner has always baffled me. It certainly isn't Czech - I've seen hundreds of Czech liners. Over 20 years I've had a few dozen suggestions from "experts" as to what it could be, and the only consistent suggestion is that it was a variation of a Luftschutz liner put into some helmets by the user to make them more comfortable for jobs like artillery and naval gunners - I have seen these before, many years ago before people started faking things. Hence the naval gunner description, which I have now removed because of the uncertainty. Any other knowledgeable suggestions would be welcome.
