Absolutely correct. There is a dimple in the top pointing upward. I recognized the similarity at first by the badly worn decals. Also the wear on the liner is exactly as was mine. I have not been able to find my photos yet. I can tell you that the person from whom I got this originally said that it came from a French farm. Let me check old emails as well. If I remember correctly it is alledged to have come from the area near Falaise.

Sorry I can't seem to find the photos. I did sell it in June of 2006 on ebay. The buyer was "Cannon616" who is in Australia. If you are able to contact him you may be able to trace it back to the States.

The dimple looks as if someone was preparing to mount it on a grave marker or a fence post but were dissuaded by the thickness of the steel. I regret ebay does not keep all of the info in the data base for extended periods. I will continue and if I can locate the one who sold it to me in the first place, I will pass the information on to you for further research. If my memory serves, this was "found in a shed in a farm near Falaise" - it would be good to be able to verify this. I am glad you have it it is an undoubted original. Please PM me if you have a chance as I'd like to know how much it has appreciated in value since I sold it.
