M42 Plain - And Pith Helmet, are they REAL!?!?

Hey guys I need some more help here. I got offered this german helmet and a SS canteen for $400 + shipping and handling. What is the helmet worth alone and is it real. I also may want to buy this pith helmet. Again what is it worth and is it authentic.

the helmet looks post war and the pith helmet i dont know shields might be ok but it doesnt look like a first model pith to me i would pass, if it was me i would not pay that kinda money for that helmet there are plenty of killer helmets on our estand a very fair prices

Sorry for the bad news, but that helmet has issues. First, although the shell is an original wartime shell, the paint is not. It does not conform to any known original factory color. I don't have a good feeling about the liner or chinstrap. The liner looks like a repo liner tha has been "overcooked". The chinstrap looks bad from the pictures, but better pictures would be needed to confirm that. I feel the only "good" part of the helmet is the shell. Value for the helmet $100-$120 USD. If the liner and strap were real, which I doubt, the helmet would be worth $200 -$225USD because of the very poor condition. If this is the same seller of the other 2 helmets you posted, I would run away fast, as the other 2 I feel were just as bad! And, if the SS canteen you are talking about, is the one tha was posted here, I have my doubts about that as well. Did you ever get a response from the equipment guys about that canteen? I feel that was bad, and if the helmet seller is also the canteen seller, which it appears to be, I think the deal smells a little rotten.

This guy is bad news, thats 5 for 5 fake helmets. I am just going to stay the hell away.
