SS M40 DD/SD out of the woodwork

This beauty was just found on an attic in east germany, and the finder was so kind to informing me... Now I am waiting for the fotoalbum that is still with the vets´ family.

Some questions:

- should I try to show the overpainted decal daylight again? It even looks like there are 2 decals under the paint?

- what kind of chinstrap would match the helmet?

- what is its current value?

Gran Sasso, really nice helmet, good find. Leave the helmet as it is, it will be worth more money. As for the price, difficult to say as they don't turn up that often. Tim.

To calm everybody down: For sure I never thought about uncovering the decal - I just raised this question as another guy who saw that helmet mentioned that possebilety, after we noticed the overpainted decal (the first impression was it was scratched out - not much light on the attic...)

I have seen to many helmets that were ruined by acting that way.
