M40 SD Luftwaffe & SS Helmets HELP NEEDED!

Hi guys I need to know if the M40 SS and Luftwaffe helmets shown in this thread are real or not. The Luftwaffe Helmet has a replaced and inncorrect liner but is the shell, paint and decals all original?? Have a look also the SS helmet, it's kind of strange.. on the SS decal the sig runes are the same color as the paint of the helmet.. very strange look.

Both helmets are poor fakes. They seem to have been aged in the same manner.

Hey guys, thanks for your comments. I kinda figured about the SS helmet. As for the SD Luftwaffe, I think it could be real. The liner and chinstrap are not original with the helmet. But could you guys give me any reasons for why you think it is fake??

I am not disputing what you say, but would like to learn the "imperfections" on the helmet, if any. I see an over lapping LW 2nd pattern decal, anyone else see that? also I see some "parade blue" paint under the liner. The rust seems consistent with the rest of the helmet. I know for a fact the liner is not original with the helmet. Is it possible the guy put a liner and chinstrap onto a LW relic?? Thanks for your comments. Also: anyone a rough value for the SS canteen, just getting second opinions on that, thanks.

I don't know canteens very well, try the equipment section for a more accurate asessment. On the canteen: as for condition, I have never seen an original in such good condition, it makes me suspicious. Also I have not seen a setup like that where everything matches by the number: cap, canteen, strap, and cover. That also makes me suspicious. Lastly there is some markings on the cap that have been scratched out, that too is suspicious. However, like I said, I don't know cateens well and I may be wrong.

the luftwaffe shell could be ok but the paint,color,decal,fake aging are all very bad imo a poor attempt at a luft dak helmet if you are thinking to buy it if you have send it back and get your money back ASAP

could it be whitewash toned yellow with age ? Or is that nonesense to ?

I doubt any white wash helmet could "tone" into a dark yellow-brown.

Any specifics for why the helmet is fake?? I see how seeing the liner and chinstrap are fake, and the ss helmet is fake would lead you to believe this one is aswell. But any specifics on the helmet that lead you to believe its a fake?? Just trying to learn to spot future fakes. Thanks.

The decals look really nice on the luft one.. I dont get the yellowish collor.. Like someone painted it but they tried not to cover the eagle.. ? no clue there.

Well guys, I e-mailed Brian Bell from www.german-helmets.com he has confirmed this helmet is a fake. However is a Luftwaffe helmet. There is a little bit of original decal.. but not much. It's sad someone whould cover original german luftwaffe decal
