    M42 SS Decal opinions

    Hello everyone,
Here is an M42 helmet which appears to be an hkp (SE) helmet. If you look closely you can see brush strokes in the paint, so it appears to be a reissue. Now the decal. Its not the decal we would normaly see on this maker shell. But it appears it could be a reissue. In that case it could wear a Pocher decal. Is this a good Pocher decal? After referencing my books, I have an opinion, but don't want to sway this discussion one way or another. Let me know what you guys think.
    Thanks for your help,
    PG-

I don't like it but Pocher decals are hard for me. I have been wrong before also.

          PG,
Do you have the helm in front of you or are these just fotos you have. It seems the bottom of the runes (the left one especially) stops a bit short of the break. Pochers should come down to the break. It may be the foto or the angle it was taken on but that is what I see.

Sepp, Thats exactly what caught my eye. These are just pictures I have of the helmet. From the pics it looks pretty clear that the runes are above the break, and not even with it. I just don't know SS decals that well, and the reference materials I have all show Pocher decals even with the break. I don't know if there are accepted variations??

              Paul,
I've been wrong before, numerous times!! I seem to be too critical of SS decals. I know Bryan is away but I believe he will be back soon and he will most likely see this thread and comment. I do not know where the other big SS decal guys like Doug, Chris, Darryl, TK, DH, (the list goes on and on) are. An Urlaub, maybe??

Personally I too have my doubts......As well as the runes falling short of the "break", the overall appearance of the shield looks rather boxy......Bodes

I like the decal a lot.. I have a Civil helmet and the appearance of the decal is just the same..

in my opinion the helmet is GOOD !

In my opinion I have to give the thumbs down on the decal. Not a Pocher, reasons stated above by Sepp and others.
Germanien, be careful you are not comparing a fake to a fake.
I have posted what I think is the same fake decal, or very close facsimile of, to compare, this decal I post is a known fake.
Compare the reference points to what a real Pocher decal has.
                      Cheers
                      Doug

This decal does not conform to any known originals in my opinion.

                        Cheers,
                        Erich

                          ss

i too dont like it, apart from being not near the break the runes seem a bit blistered as if they have had some heat near them to age them, rgds dave
