Two helmets for your opinions

Hi,
thanks Ty again for posting these pictures, it is really much appreciated!
Perry and Willi thanks for your opinions; I also had a wrong gut feeling about these helmets. You people saved me a lot of money, again, I thank you for this.
I myself got beaten in the stomach so to speak, collecting helmets is a hell of a hobby, esspecially when you don't have money but moreover when I encounter these fakes, certain dealers have a certain sense for my weakness. So at this time I experience this intrueging and most appealing hobby more frustrating than enjoyable
I felt sad after reading the comments, as I hope you can understand when you all started collecting a long time ago.
Oh well, I reckon these events create patience, maybe and hopefully I will have more luck on a better day.
Thanks.
take care,
Alco

2 camos
Ty,
I agree with Willi and Perry about these helmets. The first one is simply not worth owning because it is in such poor condition and ugly.
The white helmet has far too much clean, unscratched paint, especially in the front of the helmet. And the painted around the decal should fool no one.

Gentlemen!
I am the one who are offering these two helmets for sale. The top helmet has seen it´s best days but is entirely original, including the decal. I belive i offer it priced accordingly. The white helmet is also entirely original. It is not treated with lime, it´s just simply painted with white paint. That gives it a more shiny apperance then lime does. The paint is as said quite intact on many places. But not on top of it, where it is alot of scratches. But that can not be seen in these pictures. I be glad to let anyone where it is geographicaly possible have look at it in hand.
As i are a collector myself i would never deceive anyone intentionaly. But i can -however- make mistakes. But i have collected german militaria for over 20 years and i belive i picked up a few things over the years, so the risk of makeing mistakes should be shrinking. But it will never be impossible to make a mistake.
If someone buy anything from me and it later shows to be fake i will buy it back. As i have been deceived earlyer, as i belive many has, i know that feeling. I do not wish to make anyone have that feeling.
I enclose a top picture of the white helmet to show that it is not void of scrathes.

Welcome to the forum Jens and I acknowledge the fact you have come to the defense of your two helmets..Often this is not done for obvious reasons.
The Heer helmet could be unmessed with but the odd colored green overpaint bugs me and leaves me with the thought it might have been a post-war reissued helmet. The decals looks to be uncovered via striping the odd overpaint. This color also looks to be inside the shell as well, another indicator of a post-war reissue. It being in relic condition makes it difficult to be 100% sure just from the photo's..
The Luftwaffe camo'd helmet is a post-war camo'd helmet using amateurish talent. The mutilated decal and relic condition of the interior vs. the crisp white paint on the outside should tell you someone started with a cheap relic helmet to modify. Notice the poor artifical aging of the exterior, no actual wear only scrapes and gouges, only flaking the paint away. Then notice the wear to the interior...
I'll post a decent Luft. decal so you can compare...

"The first one is simply not worth owning because it is in such poor condition and ugly. "
I agree with all was said here, except this sentence ; I've been collecting helmets since decades, and IMO, there's "a priori" no item to be rejected for its "poor condition". I like helmets who have been there ; talking ones. It's rarely found in mint DD helmets for example, even if their market value reaches the sky...
I mean, of course, if the price of such "ugly" pieces is reasonable. A good example is this one, proposed by a famous dealer ; if the price was... well, more affordable, be sure it would be on one of my shelves.
(You have my email address, Guillaume, make me a better offer ! )
