M42 SD SS Helmet--Former Camo?

Here for your review and comments is an example of the thinking back over 30 years ago when Camo helmets had less value than a Helmet with a decal.

Often times Decals were "dug out' since helmets with decals were more desirable.

I acquired this helmet from a man who did a terrible job of removing the Camo finish once he discovered there was a SS decal underneath.

Really too bad, but reality in those days.

It looks like it was camoed in black, for a flak crew. What is your take on it?

Looks like it might have been painted black post-war and re used by some other army.
