This helmet was found at quite hight altitude in the mountains of southern France. It is not for sale and never has been, and is 100% good in my opinion (although the patina resembles the eastern european fakes!).

Well, if I saw this one on ebay, I wouldnt believe in it... But I am quite convinced it is good. It was found by a guy in the mountains. This person then died, and the familly gave the helmet to the new owner.
I think many helmet are ""one looker" fakes, or "one looker" authentics, and then there are a bunch of in betweens that look fake although they are real and vice versa.
Helmets found high in the mountains are rather rare, and we arent used to seeing the patina on them.
Look at the area of the crack at the top of the helmet, and the paint around it. That looks very real too me.
I am not trying to force my opinion down anybodies throat though, the helmet isnt even mine.

White camos are very difficult to judge. There are not many authentic ones around, so it is tough to compare authentic ones against fakes. For that reason, unless there is iron clad provenance, I avoid them. When you go home

I didnt dig this one up myself, and it actualy looks very different from the Demjansk ones. I could be wrong in thinking it is authentic; but I think that the problem is that white camos are so easy to fake that people are paranoid about them. The guy who has this helmet doesnt think its a big deal, and didnt even remember where it was in his house!
Here is a close up view of the paint on top of the helmet.Attached FilesLast edited by Jean-Loup; 08-22-2007, 03:28 PM.
