I have a barn or bunker found SD paratrooper helmet with heavy rusting and very little paint left. The helmet has the pads some chin strap and liner left. On the out side of the helmet there is parts of the helmet cover etched into the rust. I was reading on one of the other threads that ground dug items or helmets should be sealed or protected in some way to keep them from rusting more. Here in Ontario it is very humid in the summer and I have noticed over the years that some new rust appears in summer. I was wondering if anyone has the name of a product to seal the helmet with out leaving a shine or damaging the helmet. I am happy to leave it alone but I am afraid the new rust would damage it more. Any advice would would be great.
