With the shaky financial markets, will there be an impact on helmet values?

Maybe Die Kneipe is a better place for this but since I'm into helmets I was wondering what others think. Will there be a ripple effect on helmet prices with what's going on in the financial markets?

Ive noticed on estand, things have been moving a little slower than normal

Things are moving slower on estand because of summer. This is the time to take money out of stocks and real estate and invest in something that always will go up regardless, German Helmets!!!

Seriously speaking ...NO. The increases in militaria prices is because of the decrease in value of the US$, which means that everything has become much more affordable to foreigners. I just sold off a bunch of things recently and 90% went overseas. And everyone in Europe is now on vacation....

It mite sounds basic but for some of us helmets value has nothing to do with money, except if we can buy those pieces of history cheaper....

at the minute im loving it.the strong pound means i can buy a helmet a month.i do feel sorry for our american cousins though.

I've cashed out stock many times to buy a helmet I have wanted. I think I might wait awhile now......plus there's nothing I want right now in German helmets. Time to buy in the next few weeks, stocks that is, and wait 2-3 years and you'll make out in spades. Start with "countrywide" when it goes down another 15-20%, Many of my helmets have been financed through good stock picks over the years. Helmets for free...! Yes....! Chris

helmet prices

I thought prices were going up rediculously fast last year (2006).

Not everything rose as fast as SS helmets did, but it seemed like every week, somebody would put up an SS SD for $500 more than the last guy and get it within hours. Then, some other guy having seen the last helmet go for crazy money, decided to sell his and jacks the price even more.

For the time being, the spontaneous buyers have spent their money and have enough, or the prices have just levelled off.

I don't think the helmet prices will drop, but I do think they should stay put for a while...for my sake if anything.

If prices keep going up, this little collector will have to find a new hobby.
