Those are sort of like the collecting equivalent of a "controlled substance."

Could you provide more information as to the history on these decals?

The number on the back (26977) is correct for a party shield. The original SS decals I've seen have a different number.

Perhaps my friend Francis, the decal expert, would care to comment??

            Terry,

That is correct. The number I have seen on the back of this style of runes decal is 3xxx5 (edited for obvious reasons).

            Cheers,

                Possible reproductions?

I'd for one would like to get a better look see at them.

                  Ken

If I had to guess, I'd say the party shield is real, and the paper on the SS decal is real but is from a party shield decal that was "transferred". Then a fake SS decal was "transferred" onto the original PS paper.

                  Terry

I looked to fast! The SS should be 3---5.

It would be interesting to get a closer look at the SS decal.

Oh well. So much for me editing the number in my post.

I would also agree with your observation. Very sneaky indeed.

Opps! Sorry Darryl. But it's printed in a book.

                            Best regards.

I think you're over thinking this one guys...I've had these long before any books were published on any militaria topics. Further, they were free and from a US vet. If you saw these up close you'd have a different perspective. But due to the fakers, I'm not going to increase clarity or size...if anyone had anything similar please show them...
Still, stories aside, they are what they are, have fun....

Oh, one thing, when you look at the runes with a 30x loop, the decal is extremely thin...so thin mind you it's hard to believe it could be transfered without breaking apart. There is a small area about the size of a pin where you can see the backing paper. Interestingly, the runinc decal isn't at all like the party decal. The party looks like a decal; it has a border and is glossy. The runic piece is duller yet metalic and "different" but perfect in every detail. If it's fake, I'd love to see another fake like it--please.
