    M40 vent question.........

I have attached a picture of the vent and rivet hole of an M40.
Sorry that the quality is dreadful, but the high black gloss finish makes this difficult to photograph.
The thick gloss finish has obscured the makers name and lot No,
leaving no clue as to the possible maker. Does anyone have any idea
(based on the shape of the vent alone) what make this is ?

(dont take this too seriously) Regards Mr Slug

Hard to say for sure based on your image, however, my guess would be an SE/hkp product.

    Cheers,

      Cheers,
Well, thanks for taking a guess Darryl, I think you are right.
I have made another picture with a shell that I believe
( with benifit of hands on ) is the same.

I notice that you chose the word 'product' in preference to helmet.

I think that may be because you 'rumbled' my little game, and realise that this is not really a helmet anymore !

Here is the 'helmet' in all it's glory !

        A very recent ebay purchase.
It is a 'bit of fun' in the first instance, but does illustrate the desperate need for the most
basic domestic utensils in the immediate post war period, after 6 years of total war.
The lack of raw materials, but resoursefulness and ingenuity of a beaten people.

Anyway, I like it..... Thanks to Darryl for joining in !

I guess he wins the rhinestone oven gloves !

        Regards Mr Slug
