New helmet picked up today

Thanks goes out to a fellow forum member here that helped me ID this lid, despite not having any pics and only my lousy description.

Austrian Berndorfer helmet, but whats neat is the Iron Cross on the front. At first I thought it was painted on but when I got it home, realized it was neatly scratched into the paint.

Seller said this came from a lady in Idaho, her husband had recently passed away and this, along with a bayonet, were among the items. Enjoy...

Hi all, thanks for all the kind words. I found this piece at a local antique mall where all they ever have are old lady's hats! Unfortunately, the liner is all gone...but...can't win 'em all!!

The date on the Iron Cross is 1914, and notice the little makers mark bear.
