Pair of Helmets

Hi all, Although I've owned a few, I'm not a helmet collector. A friend has asked me about these two, which he already owns. Both appear unmessed-with to me, although the condition far from perfect. As a round figure, I've told him that I would guesstimate the SD luft at about $600, and the DD army at about $450. I guess I'm just asking for confirmation from you guys...

Luft-1 SD which still looks pretty good. Liner present, but no chinstrap

Now this is the DD army. It has a rolled edge, and the army shield while visable, is rough. I didnt get a pic, but the state shield is pretty much all gone, but the shiny outline is very noticable. This one doesnt have a liner anymore, but the retainer is still in place. There is a hole punched in the top, which I can't explain...

My guess is that the SD Army was once on a grave marker, given the hole in the top, and the overall oxidation of the paint and decal.

500$ for the LW and about 200$ for the shell would be todays value in my opinion.

Johann, you say the army helmet had a shield on the other side? Foks that would be a bit unusual for an M40 wouldn't it?

Thanks guys. Harry, there was most deffinately a shield on the other side. I assume it would have been the tri-colored state shield. Jim, I'll see him tomorrow at work, and I'll ask what it would take for him to sell. THESE ARENT MINE...
