I am sorry to say, I think your helmet has a chance of having a real decal, but not real camo paint.

                Regards,
                Terry

                    Hi Terry.

What do you not like with the paint ?

For me it looks correct and absolute 60 years old.

                        1) Overall shine to outside finish.
                        2) No dirt or grunge at all in the camo paint.
                        3) Some of the camo paint seems to be on top of scratches and wear to the factory paint.
                        4) Camo paint just ends right at the cracks instead of being split by the cracks.
                        5) Too much camo paint left on vents, edge of rolled rim, and the dome, which are the first places that should lose paint.
                        6) Camo paint looks too new and nice, compared to the rest of the helmet.

Just observations from the pictures provided.

                        Regards,
                        Terry

It looks like the camo sploches were painted around the cracks.

I think the camo paint has a real good chance. How about some close-ups of the exterior, especially of the cracked areas. To me it looks like it could be a late war camo job after the helmet was already well used.

agree, the camo cpould have been added after the helmet saw some action, close ups!!
