Honestly,. don't like the camo or the liner. Liner looks like a repro to me.

Well the decal doesn't look as bad as I thought it would, but
I agree with Perry that no solid determinations can be made
from those photos, which is suspect in itself. If this guy stood 100% behind this super rare helmet, and really wanted to sell it,
it would fill the screen.
I agree with Nick and Ty that the liner looks weird even from a distance.

Why are you guys gingerly stepping around the truth. This helmet is a diaster, a piece of crap and it needs to be described as such.
Nick, the reason why there is so much space between the camo paint and the SS decal is because the paint was removed with a solvent and a bad decal was put on and then scratched up to give it the appearance of age.
How they aged the paint is a moot point, the decal and the liner are bad and this would be a good candidate for a flower pot.
Pound it back into its source.

Nick,
I subscribe to the domino theory, when bad points start to add up run, don't walk, from the helmet.
The first thing is the liner, clearly reproduction. Secondly, a painted-around SS decal. No way! The SS gray background of the decal has that "plastic" or synthetic look.
Third, IMHO the decal was not painted around, the paint was removed. But if the paint was added after the decal, then the paint is clearly bad.
In any event I am suspicious of the paint and when bad things start to add up, dump it.
If anyone needs a pot to piss in this is the one.

Hi John!
I, for one, believe that your assessment is a correct one.
However, the fact that original helmets did exist (and still may)
in this configuration precludes me from making such a final
statement based on lousy images. A snap judgement, especially
a wrong one, does no one any good. I've been surprised before
by extremely rare items that have turned up that I never expected to see.
There are enough red flags waving on this helmet, that I'm sure
my esteemed colleagues here have not been taken in. Still, their
collective experience and decades of knowledge prevent them
from delivering a premature,albeit imminent, coup-de-grace.
