Here for your review and comments is a Model 1927 Irish Free State Helmet.
It is said that there were only 10,000 of these helmets produced by Vickers, Ltd on British controlled German M16 Helmet machinery for the Irish Army.
They were in use by the Irish Military from 1927 until 1939 when they were replaced by the standard British "Tommy" helmet.
The remaining helmets were then turned over to the Civil Authorities and painted white.
