I cannot make a determination from the photo. It is too large
for my screen and appears distorted. Pending better photos, however, nothing shouts "fake".

Hi Nick,

I have to be honest, I still don't like the closeup photo. It
fits my screen better but the decal still looks distorted. It
appears to be narrower at the break than at the top. The
runes also appear to lean to the right too far. This may just
be from trying to transfer a round object to a flat screen,
like making a map from a globe.

Having said all that, I like this helmet. There are some features
to this decal that I would not expect to see on a fake, even
at this late date. I see nothing wrong with the liner, in fact it
matches the condition of the shell perfectly. Is this a Q-66?

Without a hands-on or at least better shots, this is tough, but
I'm going to say it's good.

This helmet is a completely reworked fake...decal and all. This is indeed scary and a wake-up call to all us collectors. Scumbag fakers are watching and reading our posts...and learning. That's all I'm going to say.

Let me say a few things about this...
Not to pick on anyone but I feel this decal left a solid 95% of the people that looked at it unsure. And this helmet wasn't done in a way to fool nearly the last 5%...What if someone used a real camo? And folks it's already been done!

I know that you can't tell everythings,....the fakers are out there learning like us.... but I'll be glad to know something more ....if possible...... and the only thing I see is that the left rune is a little larger in the midle....are there some other clues?

I hate it when that happens!

This is not the first time I've been flummoxed in recent days.

I have not seen this variant before, but it sure looks
damn good. For me, the immediate reaction has always been
to dismiss a piece if it isn't just right, but I've been trying to
get away from this and be more objective. Probably not a
good policy when it comes to SS helmets these days...
