"Now how many would have said nice Normandy camo if this info wasn't known??"

I'm afraid it lacks the usual tan basis color for a "traditional" normandy pattern Perry, and also shows yellow instead of green. Not a very hard quizz !
That said, many "normandy camo" patterns were in use, even some looking more like "meditteranean" camos...
But anyway, I'd be pleased to hear from you if, one of these days, you are tired of this particular camo pattern...
    Is yours a KM ?

By the way, I had in hands yesterday a M42 normandy camo helmet. Nick, believe me it wasn't an easy job to see it was doubtful (to say the least), even this way ! So, I don't know the price for this one, but I wonder if it's worth taking the risk, with only such pictures to make your mind up...

No Chris the helmets not mine I photo'd it from a reference book. When this topic came up I remembered the helmet and when back through my books and found it...
The Normany camo is one that has been debated here many times. Maybe another thread can be started on it..

I think every one should keep in mind that german soldiers didnt always have the time, envie, possibility, intelligence, etc, to repaint their helmets every couple of months. There were surely authentic Normandie camos at the Buldge. Its always possible to see original looking camos that might not seem logical at first thought, or that might not be logical at all.

            Absolutely

            Help me out here ,fellas.

I used to think I knew what a Normandy camo was, but I've
seen the term bandied about so much in recent years that
I don't know what to believe anymore

I had one offered to me awhile back and I wish I had it now.
But it was just a shell and fairly pricey. It had a very subdued,
almost sleepy or dreamy look to it, with a very nice blend of
            medium greens,red-browns(almost like a dark orange),and an
ochre or dark yellow. It was also rather smooth.A friend has a
            DD luft M-35 very similar.

I'm sure there are numerous variations on the theme, but am
            I wrong here?

That's my main gripe about the "Normandy camo" as well. It seems every tri-color camo is labeled a Normandy camo. Collectors today are liberal with the term. Now I've noticed camo's with green and red/brown are labeled as Normandy camo's..
The basic colors that started with the Normandy look were the green,red/brown and ochra. I think the FJ collectors may use the terminology a little different in labeling a camo a Normany camo..
Maybe we should start a new thread on this..

Yes, there would be no way you could link that one to Normandy. My vote would be Italy/Southern Med. There is a very specific pattern associated w/ Normandy FJ helmets. Tan, green w/ little flecks of sawdust mixed in. This pattern is found frequently on Normandy bring-back FJ helmets. Then again, there were probably a lot of other patterns, or no camo at all in Normandy

Well, as this helmet was posted in another thread, I didn't want to "oveload" this one. Green paint is visible on back and top of the helmet. But for sure, when a helmet does not comes directly from the woodwork, it's always risky to put a name on a camo pattern...

Here is one that some would classify as a Normandy. Tan and green...maybe some darker ornagey brown too (on the top). Could be from just about anywhere though. I think it is from the Med..Italy, Sicily etc

Yes, neither of these are what I'm talking about. Darker. More
                          orangish-brown. Like a late summer-early autumn.

you mean something like this color?

                            Cheers,
