That must be a very early helmet. The circular impressed mark is the early version of size marking. Does the helmet have an alum single ply liner? I have a luft M35 snake leg DD w/ the same mark

          Rich,

          Who's a lucky boy then!!

I'm lucky to get a dome stamp in some of my helmets!!

How about some pictures of the helmet?

Andy : Yep, single band alu liner system dated 1936.

Allan : Not really much else to show. The original decals have long since been removed and there's the usual wear to a helmet that been well and truely worn.

What does Naschr Abteilung, or whatever is written mean? Does the fact this guy was a funker mean its a luft helmet?

Nachr Abt is short for Nachrichten-Abteilung, which is signals battalion. So the funker ties in as this is like a radio operator rank?

Hmm, Nachrichten. I didnt know thats the way it was spelled.
Since we are talking about luft stuff, can someone give me examples of times when a Nachrichten guy would actually need a helmet, exept to stop pieces of falling flak, not very exiting. I never realy liked luft stuff cause it always seems to me they are second line troops. I know, I know, there were paras, and Felddivisionen... So, what would a luft signalmans duty have been?

                    Hi Rich,

Got one just like it with the same stamp and liner tag. This one is on a transitonal M-16, single band Alin. liner.

I just love finding them like this. !

                        Richard,
Congrats! Nice find. Just goes to show you what can still be found. Ebay does have some nice lids pop up from time to time. You just have to weed out all the fakes.

Just to clear one small issue...this is not a luft helmet. It is Heer.

                          Regards

                          Rich

ps. Ty, I can't quite read it but is yours also Nachr Abt 16 ?

Here is one of mine to a Pz Grenadier. The helmet is a very early M35 factory reissue single decal
