mr slug ..........i agree with you if i like a helmet i will buy it if i am not sure about a helmet i wont buy it end of

some times you get some lids that do look too good to be true and some rite heaps of sh!* but are the real thing

as ive only been doing the helmet thing for the past 2 years or so i am still learning whats what ..............

but when i did start buying first one of ebay 2me they seem to have gone down in price for certain ones and sky high for outher ones over the last 12 months or so

I have heard mumbleings about a price drop, and broadly agree that some things have come down, on the other hand some stuff still makes 'top dollar'
With ebay, it is so very unpredictable. Sometimes things make far too much. Last night I watched a so called KM M42 make over £350, I feel sorry for whoever bought that piece of crap !

I agree Mr Slug, may I call you Slug? Flagitious is a bit harsh and I had to look it up myself. I agree naughty would probably be more accurate, even irresponsible, but certainly not flagitious

BTW, the helmet I posted wasn't made to fool anyone, I just had it done unaged but I think it's fairly accurate in terms of the colors used and the way the texture was applied, sort of in patches with none in some areas and very heavy in others. But I suppose beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Sure you can call me 'Slug', I mostly get called by four letter names, my wife has plenty !..........As they say in England, 'call me anything, as long as it is not late for dinner'..........Yes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, That is what makes German helmets so attractive compared to U.S. M1, the diverserty !

And I agree that restorations do have a place in the collecting world. Not everyone can afford the real deal, and like to have a representative item as a conversation piece, or as a gap filler, no harm in that. Again the collectors are as diverse as their quarry, that is what makes this interesting.

Thanks for the pics Dan. Looking at it I think it is safe to say he is not hurting anyone. My take on the prices is the same old song and dance. Quality will only go up. All the plain stuff will always be plain. I saw a local collection last week where the guy had 40 or so plain jane lufts, some beat up HSD's, and not much else? To each their own but not for me. I just thinned out my german lids. The plain was hard to sell but sold. The quality sold as fast as I would put the word out.
