No problem Dan. If the pics turn up post them if you get a minute.
    Thanks, Scott

Helmet restorers and painters who do not mark their work as such are fakers plain and simple. They hide under the "fairy tale" of selling their work as restorations knowing full well further down the line they will be sold as fakes. Such fakers often take great pride in seeing in seeing someone of knowledge wind up with one of their fakes. They are a major part of the problem and should be prohibited from all shows and forums.

Other then replacing maybe a chinstrap what possible restoration could a helmet need anyway? It is what it is.

        Bob,

As I am sure you well know with your police background...if a guy is in a nefarious business he's usually a nefarious individual.

He may just be acting flagitiously and may not actually be a flagitious person.

Here are those pics Scott. I sold it on Ebay, so I don't have a decal side pic. I don't think the interior will be fooling anyone anytime soon. No wear or aging was done on the exterior. I thought he did a nice job.

He does nice work that's why I sent him my helmet but I want it back now and don't care if he's painted it or not. His site is no longer up so he much have gotten out of the painting hobby but the guy should have sent my ****ing helmet back to me when he decided to quit. I am out a 100 dollar helmet shell I got lucky as it's worth a bit more then I paid and 260.00 paint fee.

If the police cannot help I will sue this Richard Langford even if I have to go to Seaside CA in person and stay a few days.

WOW ! first word on here I have had to resort to the dictionary !, Man what a forum, just dont stop learning here !

fla-jish'us, adj.------ atrocious, wicked, heinous; highly criminal.

It is very naughty, it may even be bad........... but it aint that bad !

I have had my leg lifted recently, I just shrug and think to myself 'I better sharpen up a little'.
I buy helmets for the sheer delight of them, sure I trade and sell, trying to up-grade my 'Keepers'.............but I never kid myself that they have any 'real value',( not like FOOD, HEALTH, FRIENDS, FAMILY, SHELTER, CLOTHING, MEDICINE, SECURITY, ECT)
To be honest, I quite like the 'cut and chase' of spotting the fakes, learning from this forum and contributing to it.
I sometimes feel that if not for the tricksters, this forum and collecting generally would be even more sterile !
I dont feel sorry for the guys that get caught out, I dont want/need sympathy when I get caught out. I never ask anyones opinion befor I buy. I never pay more than I can afford to lose. ( I know that sounds a tad arrogant )

The helmet that Dan P posted, looks dreadful ( IMO ) this guy is very poor.
I remember a thread quite recently where one member, with a hobby background made a fake in an afternoon, I think I recall it was an M40 snow camo......now that was impressive !

                        Regards to all, Mr Slug.

I have a little recipe for you Dan
Employ a super strong guy. Tell him you want him for the next 2 years and offer him a huge wage: $2000 / week. Then try to fire him after 2 weeks.
I think the guy will cure you out of your desease and yes, you`re gonna loose those 4k, but hey, that`s worth it!
                            Rgds,
                            Matt

I agree Mr Slug, may I call you Slug? Flagitious is a bit harsh and I had to look it up myself. I agree naughty would probably be more accurate, even irresponsible, but certainly not flagitious

BTW, the helmet I posted wasn't made to fool anyone, I just had it done unaged but I think it's fairly accurate in terms of the colors used and the way the texture was applied, sort of in patches with none in some areas and very heavy in others. But I suppose beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

There will ALWAYS be two camps when it comes to restorations. It could be debated for days.

Rick Langford did a helmet shell for me in late 2003. My first and only. At that time he was sprinkling in originals with his examples, some of which he later sold. I bought two of them and still have one.

His last website update was mid 2004. In fact my helmet shell was shown in the "new" helmet section for four years..

Seems that phone call produced some results. His website is gone
