08/15 painted on mdl 40

A friend of mine has a mdl 40 with 08/15 neatelly painted on the front of the helmet. Does any one know what this is for? Something to do with machine guns???

some times this type of insignia was painted in red on luftschutz helmets to denote batt. e.t.c.

Hmm. The thing is his helmet is not a piece of crap luftschutz helmet. It is a solid mdl 40 battle helmet with no decals. I think the paint color is strange thow. Brown if I remember corectly. I guess Luftschutz who got good mdl 40's and not replacement bad quality helmets... Thanks guys.

Well, I dont know, witch is why I started this thread. I will find out exactely what the helmet details are, and post them up. This should take a while, knowing the owner is one of those secret types.
