    Original Helmets with Fake Decals/Camo

What place does original helmets with bad decals or post war Camo jobs have in the collecting community?

Would you buy one at a price that reflects it's original condition pre-enhancement?

Would you fix it, or leave it alone?

I feel they hurt the hobby somewhat, not like a out and out fake but consider someone taking a original camo and applying a reproduction decal, then removing the decal leaving a decal shadow in the paint...no forever it's new owners will often wonder...see what I'm saying?
But at the same, I think when a original helmet can be "saved" it should be done...for instance removing a obvois repo decal harmlessly on a otherwise original M42 no decal....
But still these helmets would not be in my collection...

I agree, if the helmet can be restored to virtual original do it.
But what about a helmet that is so destroyed by modifications (in my case "chrome"). Should I convert it to an obvious fake allegmeine SS helmet just for display purposes? ORr leave as the monstrousity it is?

Also, having seen hundreds of helmets in the last 40 or so years it seems the majority here in the states have no decals (excluding luft, civil) , yet the majority on the net are either SD or DD. Fakes?
