officer artillerie visior cap ?

hi guys,

i hope somebody can help me. is this visior cap a original or a fake item? i think it's a real one. from the all over made.
but the inside paper is written with ink. don't know if this was common. please help. it's an auktion.

Hello Quilldor,

The hat looks fine to me. I have had 2 which were almost identical as far as the outside is concerned and that particular type of material and color. I wouldn't worry about the paper tag written in ink, unless it's ballpoint pen (Kugelschreiber).

as you can see on the pics there is no eagle at the front.
when i will get this visior cap do you mean that i can put on a metal eagle? or was this uncommon? because the wreath and the kokarde is stitched. i think a metal one will be ok because i don't see any stitching holes on the cap from an old eagle.
so i think that the eagle which was there was an metal eagle.
am i right?

can somebody help me, please ?

Hi Quilldor,

Judging the picture you attached at 04-24-2003 11:33 PM, there probably was a cloth eagle attached, as the outlines are to big for a metal eagle. If there was a metal eagle attached try to find the holes by carefully using the pin of (for example) a normal Infantrie Sturmabzeichen.

I have a Pionieer officers cap with metal eagle and stitched wreath. This combination is not uncommon. Although I agree the visor you picture does look to have had a cloth eagle originally.

Pics aren't the best but I'll bet the 'cello' is very thick and the sweatleather cowhide....
