M 42 helmet used by Danish Resistance

I just picked these nice items up the other day,its a M42 helmet used by the Danish Resistance
here in Copenhagen,a nice black painted helmet with the Danish Colors painted on,the helmet inside
still has the original color,liner and the Dome stamp can be seen,with the helmet came also
the Armband from the Resistance.
Maybe these items should have been in another forum,but what the H...,here they are

That's a very nice helmet. I'll bet it is quite rare too. Have you ever seen another? Are there any war-time photos of these being worn?

Not a helmet, but the armband is shown in this picture...I think that they're wearing the standard Danish helmets

Jorn, could you tell us what kind of symbol at the front of they're helmets is? is it the same as on the armbands?

The helmet the guy is wearing on the pic.is the M23 Danish Army helmet with the large brass army badge in front with the crown,the shield with the 3 lions and the 9 hearts,
on the armband is only the shield with the 3 lions and 9 heart.
The two badge are not the same.

In the photo the guy in the middle has a helmet with no badge on the front. The helmet looks to have a shinny finnish. I have a helmet that looks like it. The shell is thin. What were those thin shelled helmet used for. Thanks Joe

Thanks Jørn for the information, I see often these helmets on shows overhere, was this type also used post-war? What is the value of an original M23?

I have an original M42 which I believe was also used by the Danish Resistence. There is a bare rectangular patch on each side of the helmet where it looks like the painted flags were removed. I couldn't explain the bare patches until now!

It was bought in a Danish flea market.

The helmet you have is made for the Danish civil defence,but as seen on the photo,these was also used by the resistance,the different between the helmets are that the Army helmet is very heavy,has a another liner,inside the liner ring is a small brass
manufacturer badge attached with the name"Glud & Marstrand"
and in the front is a extra hole under the rivet,this is for attachment of the army badge,

the civil defence helmet is not as heavy as the army one,the steel is very thin,
and the liner is attached in the helmet another way,very similar to the German Luftschutz helmet.
A value for the M23 Army helmet is from $ 100.- to $300.-
depends of the condition.
A value of a M23 civil defence helmet is $25 to $30.-,
they can still be found on every flea markeds here in Denmark,
but when they have been used by the resistance and have the original marks,flags ect. painted on,the price goes up.
But take care many of these Civil defence helmets has been made to Army helmets.

The photo shows the liner and manufacturer badge on a M23 Army helmet.

Thanks for the information on the M23 Civil helmet. I bought it from a small militaria shop while vacation a few years ago. I think I paid about $50 for it.

At last here are the pics of the helmet I mentioned. It's obvious that a patch has been removed on each side of the helemt and as it came from a Danish Flea market I assume it is of the type shown at the top.
