    M40 SD Navy helmet

Good Navy gold decal on the left and the remains of a scraped off National shield on the right. You can see a little bit of the red from the colors still.
This came out of a collection that was largish. The gentleman ONLY bought from vets or first purchaser after the fact.
In pencil...very faint on the inside are 2 U-BOAT numbers and the traces of two names.....

    Jorblorn(?) U510(?)
    and in another spot
    Matrose Flo----oede(?) U--78(?)

I wish I could read the full names for sure and match them to a U-Boat crew name, but thy are so faint. For the moment, I guess it's good enough to know I've got a good Navy.

Would love to see a real picture of the eagle ...

Sorry that I'm going on about this but you can hide a lot behind such a veil of blurred pixels. Which is also the reason why you don't get many reactions.

I'm terrible at closeup photography. I'll try again, but I don't get much time to do this.

            Hello Tim,

It's an M35 and appears to be a Army helmet. Better pictures of the eagle are needed to be sure.

            Best regards.

            Jim

              M35

You're right. I knew it was an M35, but managed to screw that up along with my lousy photographic skills. I'll see someone this weekend that might be able to help me do good closeups with 7.0 digital camera. The camera's good enough, more than good enough. It's the idiot pushing the button that's lousing things up!

Even without a close up, looks like a toned heer in my opinion.
Agree with Deathshead; better photos are needed to give better feedback on this helmet!
