    Special Luftwaffe M35 Helmet

I would like to ask your views on a Luftwaffe helmet which was offered to me some time ago. At the time I thought the asking price was too much and I passed on it. I have since then wondered if I should have kept it or not?

The helmet a M35 model and is really in a superb condition. It has 4 (four!!) decals.
On the left side there is a transfer of the Luftwaffe eagle. On the right side there is the tri-colour national shield. In the middle there is (what I think) the logo of Junkers. Inside there is a transfer which says "EIGENTUM, Junkers Flugzeug u Motorenweke A6, Flugzeugbau Zweigwerk Leopoldshall, WERKLUFTSCHUTZ.
Inside you can clearly see the acceptance ink stamp.

May I have your views on its authenticity and if possible the value.

I know that the helmet since it was offered to me has been sold and these are the only pictures I have.

Mmmm..first I've ever seen with those decals on a combat helmet. These (and other companies) are usually found on civic/gladiator style helmets...Usually for light guard duty for a employee...
I don't like the crispness and the leather, the combo of a combat helmet with company decals..Notice the ageing of the decals vs. the Junkers decals...very wary of this one..

Thanks Perry for your opinion on this helmet. Normally one wouldn’t be very pleased with your comments but I am very relieved by them.

I kept on thinking that I passed on a great find. It turns out that I did the right thing by letting it go.

One other question. On the decal inside the helmet it says “Motorenweke” is this the right spelling?
I thought it should have said “Motorenwerke”?

                Thanks again.

Some 4-5 "Junkers" Werkluftschutz helmets have cropped up on Militariaweb.com over the past few months, as well as several "VW" helmets. Most were in excellent (read: hard to believe) condition. The seller has a reputation for selling fake helmets, as well as badges, field gear, you name it, so I'd be very wary of these, especially if they came out of Germany recently.

After looking at it and looking at it I have a very strong suspicion the National shield is a out-right fake....

Motorenwerke I think is correct, but I speak little German

Yes, it should be Motorenwerke. These guys must spent weeks planing how to make the fake decals, and it seams they always make grotesque speling mistakes....

Tsss, tsss Jean-Loup, It should be planning with a double “n” and spelling with a double “l” .

By the way, who did you said made all those spelling mistakes .

Only joking, thank you all for your response. I’m really pleased that I didn’t go for this one at the time. The sad thing is that someone somewhere has spent an awful lot of money on a fake .
                        I’m talking into 4 figures now .

I've seen collectors get hit with a fake that high, sadly most of the time you never can educate them on what they really have. They just can't take the loss and refuse to listen....

As a layman that is not an expert in decals that eagle looks beautiful and authentic.
I know that the spelling error is a big clue but I would have thought that the process in which they bake the combat helmet and the use of lacker after placing the helmet may have explained the discrepancies in conditions between the original Double decals and the company decals.

OK, here's my two cents worth. The chinstrap looks fake. The tri-shield in my opinion is for sure fake. The leather looks totally wrong. What I mean by that is, it almost looks like late war issue might even be post war. I don't think I've ever seen an early aluminum liner band with this type of leather attached to it. It almost looks goofy. Could be wrong but I think this is a fantasy helmet.
