    Unknown mark.

    Guys,

Is anyone aware of what this symbol stands for?

I believe that it is some sort of 'Einsatzestaffel' symbol.

I refer to the 'I' like faint mark before the initials S.H.

It is on an early M35 DD Combat Police(1936)

    Billy,

I'm surprised no-one has even come forward with a guess as to what this could be.

As I've seen this lid in the flesh, I don't believe it is a one either because if it were it would have a flat bottom. I appears to be runic or somesort of symbolic symbol. Just what exactly, is the mystery!

I hope you get further with this as I am as interested as you!

    Rich

Mind you, when I look at it again the angle of the bar of the 'H' is at the same angle, so maybe is it just a fancy 'I'?

      Hi Richard and William,
I think it is a stylized 1(one), that is how it hit me.

Hi Guys, I would tend to think that the unknown symbol is a stylised "1" too.
        Cheers, Ade.
