Need help on overpainted german helmet.

Hi lads.
Have just bought this german helmet. It overpainted by the norwegian army after the war... So now i have diseided to remove that layer with paint...
Any tips or anythink specal i need to remember ?

Be careful, I've seen Norwegian helmets that were stripped then repainted, which might be the case with yours

My advice would be to leave that helmet the way it is. That is a wonderfull example of the Norwegian post-war modification. Most of these have had their decals painted over...or have been stripped by collectors to see if there is a WW2 painted helmet underneath.

These are becoming collectible in their own right and are probably more rare than the WW2 counterparts in this condition. Real WW2 Heer or Luft single decal helmets are not hard to find and still relatively cheap. Why not buy one of those instead?

In my experience all Norwegian repaints that I have seen have been stripped prior to painting.

It is a very nice example.

I would agree with the other guys, leave it be. I doubt you will find any wartime paint.

First of all, leave it as it is.
Second, that helmet have been sand blasted before it got the Norwegian paint.
So if u take of that paint, all u will find is german steel.

If u are looking for a Norwegian used helmet whit the orginal German paint under it, u must look for a hand painted helmet.

Yes, leave it alone.. It's worth far more like that than if you were to remove the paint.

hm..
I suddenly began doubting... I tok a closer look and it confiremd what i feared.. it aint any paint under, witch means that i need to keep it just as it is...

Personnaly I think that the german helmets reissued for other army are interesting collectibles.
I leave it alone, it's a great example and as already said more rare than a M40 LW SD as many collectors have ruin them.
