but DH is my go-to guy with the "iffy's"

I think no doubt that all that is authentic. I would question that the two pieces are original to each other.
The color of the leather is distinctly different on the long end vs the short.
I would think that there's a good possibility that the pieces came form two different straps.
Sometimes one end gets damaged and marrying two that fit in that catagory to make one good one is a consideration.

Iam going to say the strap is bad ,the buckle is wrong.Not that iam wright but the things that like to see are not on this. bill
