I'm curious as to what would make this a fake. I checked it out in Kelly Hicks's book and on page 48 in the first volume the photo's look pretty darn similar. You can email me if you like.

I still get tricked a lot but the bottom looks incorrect as does the right rune.

Darryl is right, that one is actually easy to spot..
Kelly Hicks books has some excellant original SS helmets in there, but also some serious fakes...
That exact one was posted awhile back (that decal).

Ty is correct as well, these are the ones with the screwed up bottoms, other things are wrong of course, but this trait will be evident before you even pick it up..they fooled alot of people when they first came out. They've been around quite some time now...

Again fake. Well I'm getting a little sick about ss-decals. I think I've posted 5 to 10 ss decals up for now an ALL where fake .
Can somebody please post some 10000000000000% original decals and variants. I want to see a real one for a change.

I had a look at the decal you referred to in Kelly's book. Although it is indeed similar, it is nowhere near this bogus one depicted here. As Ty mentioned, the bottom is completely round...no hint of a point whatsoever which is incorrect. Also, the sides are much too round where it transitions to the bottom of the shield. The decal itself is not correct dimensionally and I find a lot of these fakers tend to apply heat to these decals to make it bubble and blister. Real ones are not like that at all. Hope this helps.

Real one's are very big money and so many people are fooled in this field..it's why the real is so expensive...
