    Friend and Foe

Playing with the camera this afternoon & thought I'd share these with you.
I quite enjoy seeing combo's like this so if you have anything similar, let's see them !

Hope there's not to many hangovers after the big days over indulgence.

    Cheers
    Mike

Here is my team. All these are from the general area of the landings in southern France from august 1944. The German helmet with wire was probably abandoned by his owner (apparently a Gefreiter Monzhausen, any info welcome) on august 17th 1944 in Digne when he surendered to the americans.
The American paratrooper helmet was a abandoned by its owner, Marvin Moles, I Co, 517th PRCT, on august 24th 1944 in Courme, probably because it was to hot to lug it around on his head.
Exact info about the chicken wire is secret for now, but its owner was KIA and buried with his helmet.
This set cost me a lot of asking, a lot of digging, a lot of luck, and... 50$.

Great idea for a thread. Here is my contribution...a Canadian MkIII helmet like my dad wore in the Normandy campaign along with a Waffen-SS helmet worn by soldiers of my dad's adversary at the time, the 12th SS Hitlerjugend Div. He fought at Caen, Falaise, etc and ended up in the liberation of Holland.

Dachau-attributed WSS M-35dd and a netted M-1 which would have been typical kit for a camp liberator.
