Helmet Liner Question

Years ago, a rather unexciting SD SS helmet was given to me, by the neighbor of a friend. The vet kept it on his workbench and used it to hold screws and nuts. I bought a liner, at a show and want to make sure it is original. I don't have any expertise on liners.

The liner looks to be authentic. A peek inside at the felt and any markings would tell for sure. Unfortunately.... the strap is not. Note the rivit holding the leather together at the buckle.

Hi Bob,
I think a couple pictures of the inside of the liner would be good.I would like to see the liner felt and any ink markings. It looks like it could be a good one. I see some things about it that look good. If it is original, I think a used one would fit much better with that helmet, as the helmet has a nice "combat worn" look to it. As for the chinstrap, I am not crazy about it. The Rb mark is not in a textbook location, and the buckle end is riveted instead of sewn. Looks like a early post war strap with an rb number added.

Nice liner, a real one, and the right size. Maybe the right date too - most likely 1943? However, if it's 1944, it's not right for your helmet. Only negative thing is, it's probably too nice for that helmet. You need one with a little wear and darkening!
