          Hello Robert

Nothing wrong with that liner as far as I can see!

          Cheers

Authentic liner that doesn't look to have ever been worn. Likely a unissued piece that was placed in that shell. To me the condition (lack of wear) compared to the shell, would raise doubts as to when it was put in there. The dirt and stains on the leather are probably from poor storage post war.
6-43 is the date and the number 60 inside the leather is to identify the largest size that leather piece could be used for. Turns out it was cut short when it was used to make a 57.

Took the words right out of my mouth! There was a similar thread on this issue not too long ago... I personally like the helmet very much! Alot of character on that one!

Thanks guys you answered my queries to a tee. The 60 had me confused what you told me now makes sense. The helmet itself I like I prefer items which have seen service and show it especially with all the reproductions now coming out I notice helmets which are supposed to be correct weight with correct markings, will there be a time when these become a problem or are they easily spotted.
                  cheers Robert
