    DD Luftwaffe Helmet from Normandy

I don't usually post here, German helmets aren't my area of interest but I have to share these with you. A few months ago a co-worker was telling me about some military stuff his uncle had given him over the years, including a couple of helmets. Today he brought them in. The great thing about them, this one in particular, is that his uncle made notes of where he picked stuff up. He was a real pack rat. Among the items in this box (and it's only one of several he still has) were sections of parachute, some odds and ends of German insignia, some German flare parachutes and a couple of hats. This helmet was, according to his uncle's notes, picked up shortly after he landed at Normandy on D+2.

I know these pictures aren't the best but I wanted to get some yet tonight. If there is any interest I can post better ones tomorrow!

And, no, they aren't for sale. My friend is keeping all this stuff to give to his son someday. Lucky kid.

Thanks guys! I've got some time, I'll keep picking at him but his mind is pretty made up for now. Maybe the kid will start playing with dolls and wearing make-up....then I'll make my move

A beautiful line helmet. Very respectable. And, from Normandy too.

                    I know this feeling.
A knowledge of mine found several years ago a nice WH M42 SD helmet on a demolition firm and he is the meaning it has to stay in his garage. He won't sell it and it will be a gift to his son also in the future.

We must respect that, but now and then I ask for this helmet but he changed his mind not yet.

                    Great helmets anyway.

A very nice helmet, my compliments. I spend a lot of time in Normandy, I'm always looking at flea-markets, and I have never seen such a nice helmet like this

                      Greetings, Floris
