          Wolhans,

I can only suppose that sometime in the last 60 years the box was not tightly shut.

The lid was not closed and the front nails bent when it was discovered at the Flea Market, so it was likely not closed completely when stored.

It is a shame, but perhaps the mouse was really hungry!

          Best regards,
          RonR

            Ron,
            I was just kidding
I think it's the best supposition we can find

I really love militaria stuff when it comes from "nowhere"

Although a no decal M42 that's a gem of a find. Other items included.

              Ron,
You really do have a stroke of good fortune.

Its just like one of those ww1 mail home lids with the stamps stuck to the top . Perhaps its not mouse chew but damage done at the time and are not those SS shoulder straps .Nice one Rob.

                      Great history.
That makes an average helmet so special.

(maybe this soldier was not be able to pick up the great looking pieces , we want to see nowadays, because of his function then.)

Looks like it has a winter camo coat at one time then lastly another dark grey coat covering up the adler.
